Thermaltake Frio – Finally a Reality

Thermaltake is almost a household name in the computer industry. From their class leading Toughpower PSU’s to the innovative and unique Level 10 Chassis. A cooler first seen in June has finally made it past the development stage, the Thermaltake Frio.

Known in the past for good but sometimes eccentric designs, Thermaltake has gone to the roots of CPU cooling and brought forth a Tower cooler. Regardless of other air cooling designs, tower coolers are always in the top spot when it comes to performance. Especially when they allow a dual fan mounting.

The Frio is based upon this pedigree and looks to be a solid performer. With five 8mm Heatpipes piercing its dense heat-sink array it is sure to move heat well when we turn the fires up on our processors. Up front is a single 120mm Fan, rated for 1200-2500rpm although any other information on it is sketchy at best. If the final retail design allows for Thermaltake’s ISGN Fan (which one hopes considering the white blades on this one) it will truly be a contender for everyone’s hard earned dollars. The rear of the cooler allows for a second 120mm Fan to be installed, giving users that optimal push-pull configuration.

Pricing and when we will see it in retail stores is still unknown at the time of this posting.
